As much as we may say that the military should defend the nation from external aggression and not involve itself in internal affairs because it might rekindle government conspiracy theory and so forth; however, the military should be given an increased role US in internal affairs where the following situations occur:

1.  The military should be fully involved where suspicion of chemical and biological agents were used, or will be used. This is because of their advance knowledge in this area. That also comes handy with the protection of the nuclear plants.
2.  In some incidences the domestic terrorist groups have infiltrated and negatively impacted on the morale and cohesiveness of some military personnel units because there are radical right-wing groups within that are unhappy government foreign policies.
3.  Where domestic terrorism has been perpetrated by active duty or ex-US military personnel, or has been indirectly linked to them.
Where the above situations occur, the military should be given more authority to crack down domestic terrorism activities because they understand their own better since they trained them.

Otherwise, the FBI, ATF, CIA, and local law enforcement officers are doing a great job in isolating and taking down these domestic groups of terror. Adding the military will lead to conflict of interest amongst the law enforcement community.
