  1. Force NIC card to operate in specific mode with 5 values:

         Usage: insmod fa31x link_speed=n (n=0...4)

         0/null: Autonegotiate 10/100 full/half
         1: Force 10Mb Half duplex
         2: Force 100Mb Half duplex
         3: Force 10Mb Full duplex
         4: Force 100Mb Full duplex
      
  2. Procedures of on-line change driver and operation mode:

         step 1: cp fa31x.o /lib/modules/2.2.xx/net/
              
         step 2: insmod fa31x link_speed=n (n=0...4)
                 (install the new fa31x module)

         step 3: ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
                 (active your ethernet card)

         step 4: ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
                 (check if eth0 work)

  3. System configuration modification:

     (1) To make the driver load when the system boots up,
         you can execute "netconf".
 
     (2) Enter setting in the "Client tasks/Basic host
         information/Adaptor 1"

         IP address:    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
         Netmask:       255.255.255.0
         Net device:    eth0
         Kernel module: fa31x

     (3) After ending the previous step, adding th following
         line to the buttom of /etc/conf.modules or
         /etc/modules.conf

         options fa31x link_speed=n (n=0...4)

     (4) Then your driver will work on the specific mode every
         time you boot.
